Budding Bates Artists!
Last week in the downtown campus courtyard, high school students in Claudia Greenamyer’s Appreciation of Public Art class tried their hand at sidewalk chalk art.
The class has been learning various aspects of the history of public art. They saw slides of 3-D chalk art and wanted to see how difficult it was to create.

Now, the ASG is opening up a contest to students and staff—to design the college’s mascot logo. Deadline for logo entries is 3 p.m. Friday, October 29. The person submitting the winning entry gets a $50 gift certificate to Fred Meyer. Contact ASG Senator MarQuis Bradford, or Kat Flores in the Diversity Center with your questions. Walk for Reconciliation Events
This year, the 125th year anniversary of the Tacoma Chinese Expulsion will be recognized with a Walk for Reconciliation at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30. Join community friends for the 2.5 mile walk from Tollefson Plaza (S 17th Street and Pacific) to the site of the Tacoma Garden and Reconciliation Park. Puget Sound Revels and the Seabury School invite children ages 7 to 14 to participate in the production of the Mummer's play "The Farmer and the Wild Worm.” The public is invited to the free performance on Sunday, October 24th at 4:00 pm in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, located at 621 Tacoma Ave South, Tacoma WA.
