Constitution Day Contest for staff and students!

The Constitution Day contest is going on right now and ends at noon on Friday, Sept. 16. This is your chance to earn prizes, acquire the admiration of your peers, and, perhaps, launch a career as a constitutional scholar!

The United States Constitution is one of the most amazing and important documents ever created by the hand of man. Since 1789, it has been the basis of all that we do here in the United States. It is a document that is brilliant in its scope and practical in its simplicity.

Americans constantly debate the meaning and interpretation of the Constitution, which has led to many heated arguments. Nevertheless, the document ultimately unites us as a people and a nation.

The ContestThis year, Bates’ Constitution Day contest will cover general questions about the document. Each correct answer to the questions is worth one point. Each contestant may only submit one entry.

BARC Wants You!

Are you a Bates staff member who wants to become involved with planning fun events for your fellow employees? Or maybe you want to get to know your coworkers a little bit better. If this sounds like you, then consider joining Bates Activities and Recreation Committee, lovingly referred to as BARC.

The first meeting of the school year is this Friday, Sept. 16 at 8 a.m. in the Downtown Campus Cafeteria. And yes, there will be snacks.

If you'd like to participate, but can't make the meeting, please contact Becky Welch, x7701.

Years of Service Recognition

On Staff Day on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the college recognized those who have been employed at Bates for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and, yes, 35 years, with service pins.

Vice President for Human Resources and Campus Public Safety Vickie Lackman presented the pins, and each group of employees posed for a photo with President Lyle Quasim.

So if you see any of these folks walking around campus, please thank them for their dedication to Bates, and for inspiring, challenging and educating our students.
