Fifth annual Zach Stewart golf tournament aims to raise funds for scholarships

Bates faculty Mark Peila and John Howard tee up

The fifth annual Zach Stewart Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 11:15 a.m. at Madrona Links Golf Course, 3604 22nd Ave. NW in Gig Harbor. Where else can you brush up on your golf skills and help out Bates students at the same time?

The golf tournament began in 2008 by friends of Zach Stewart as a way to reunite with friends and remember Zach, a graduate of the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program. But over the years, the tournament has also had a significant impact on students. Over $18,000 in scholarships has been awarded.

All proceeds from this year's tournament will benefit the Zach Stewart Memorial Scholarship at the Bates Foundation.

The tournament fee of $65 covers 18 holes of golf with cart and is limited to just 11 teams of four. Registration is due by June 15. Check and credit card payments are accepted and you can register by calling LeAnn Dreier in the Bates Foundation office at 253.680.7160.
